Despite the Great Disappointment of October 22, 1844, faith was not to be completely lost. Two individual farmers, Leonard Hastings and Silas Guilford, both had potato fields where crops were left unturned, in a bid to proclaim their faith. A potato blight had rotted all of the potatoes at this time, except for those of Leonard and Silas. This testified of Gods goodness and watch care.
