In the 1860's, spiritual decline had started to set in. Ellen White returned to Washington, New Hampshire to revive the faith, and it is here that she met Eugene Farnsworth who was unconvinced of her prophecy gift. He knew of unconfessed and deliberately concealed sins within his family, and Ellen White knew of this because of her prophetic ability. She said it was one of the biggest hindrances to the work of God. This turned out to be a life changing visit for the faith.
