Marie Durand: Righteous Resistance | Episode 44 | Lineage

16 Nov 2017

Here, we explore the life of Marie Durand. She was the sister of a Huguenot pastor, and was snatched from her home in France as a teenager and thrown into prison in 1713. She spent 38 years in prison, with her only crime being her Protestant faith. All she needed to do to be released was to say two words, “I recant” - something that she refused to do. Her righteous resistance is an example of an ordinary person standing resolutely in the face of injustice.
